Do I need a patch test and consultation
Yes, a patch test and consultation are required before starting laser hair removal. The appointment takes around 30 minutes and includes a full medical review, a discussion about your goals, and a step-by-step explanation of the process.
We’ll test a small area of skin using the laser, adjusting settings to suit your comfort and skin type. If no reaction occurs within a week, you’ll be ready to begin your treatment.
Your safety, comfort, and confidence come first — always.

What's your cancellation policy?
To confirm your appointment, a 50% booking fee is required. This helps us hold time just for you and ensures our schedule runs smoothly for all clients.
You’re welcome to reschedule or cancel free of charge with more than 24 hours’ notice.
Cancellations made within 24 hours will result in the booking fee being retained, as that time is difficult to reallocate.
Final balances are due on the day of treatment.
Thank you for honouring this policy — it allows us to offer a focused, respectful experience to every client we treat. -
Does Laser Hair Removal hurt?
This is one of the most common questions — and the honest answer is: laser hair removal is a heat-based treatment, so a warming sensation is expected, but it should never feel intolerable.
At Bare and Brilliant, we use the Soprano Titanium, one of the most advanced and client-friendly lasers available. It features a built-in cooling system and allows for two application techniques:
For larger areas, we use the in-motion method — a fast, gliding technique that gently builds heat while keeping the treatment smooth and efficient.
For smaller or more sensitive areas, we use a stacked method, applying heat more precisely to avoid excessive build-up and reach an optimal temperature for better results.
The treatment is always tailored to your skin, your settings, and your comfort — because results matter, and so does how you're made to feel along the way.
-
Is laser hair removal expensive?
That depends on your perspective. What feels expensive to one person might feel completely worth it to another.
What’s important to know is that laser hair removal is one of the most cost-effective options in the long run — especially when compared to a lifetime of waxing, shaving, and the regular upkeep that comes with them.
While the initial cost may feel like a bigger investment, prices have become much more accessible in recent years thanks to advances in technology. Treatments are now faster, more efficient, and more affordable than ever before.
And unlike temporary methods, laser offers lasting results — which means fewer appointments, less regrowth, and more time saved overall.

I want my bikini line doing, but I feel a bit embarrassed.
Absolutely. It’s completely natural to feel a little self-conscious before your first treatment.
You’ll be given a towel for modesty, which is gently repositioned as needed during the session to keep you as covered and comfortable as possible. You’ll also see the same practitioner each time, which helps build trust and ease.
Most clients tell us that after their first session, they’re surprised by how discreet and professional it all feels — and by their next visit, they feel far more at ease.
Your comfort, dignity, and privacy are always respected here. Always.
-
Does laser hair removal work on people with PCOS?
Yes. Many clients with PCOS choose laser hair removal to help manage unwanted hair growth and reduce how often they need to shave.
Because PCOS can cause hair to grow back more quickly due to hormone imbalances, laser isn’t a cure — but it can slow regrowth, soften the texture, and give you longer-lasting smoothness.
It’s also important to continue working with your GP or specialist to explore medical support alongside your laser treatments. Hormonal balance plays a big role in long-term results — and your treatment plan should support both your skin and your overall wellbeing.
-
Can I have laser hair removal over my scar?
In most cases, yes — laser hair removal over a scar is completely safe.
The only exception is if you have a history of keloid scarring — a rare type of scar that becomes raised, pink, and thickened over time. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it’s unlikely to apply to you.
If you’re unsure, don’t worry — we’ll talk through everything during your consultation to make sure treatment is safe and suitable for your skin.
-
Can I have laser hair removal over my tattoo?
Laser cannot be performed directly over tattoos or semi-permanent make-up, as it can affect the pigment and damage the skin.
If you do have a tattoo in the treatment area, that’s absolutely fine — we’ll simply work around it with care, ensuring safe and effective treatment for the surrounding skin.
-
Can I have laser hair removal with a tan?
Yes — one of the advantages of the Soprano Titanium is that it’s approved for use on tanned skin, unlike many other lasers.
This makes it ideal if you travel often or enjoy spending time outdoors, as it means you won’t be restricted by typical "no-tan" policies during your 6–8 month treatment plan.
That said, we can’t treat sunburned skin, and it’s essential to wear SPF 30 or higher daily to protect your skin and maintain safe, effective results.
-
Can I shave between treatments?
During your course of laser treatments, shaving is the only method of hair removal that’s allowed.
Shaving trims the hair at the surface, leaving the root intact — which is exactly what the laser needs in order to target the follicle effectively.
Waxing, epilating, and depilatory creams must be avoided, as they remove the hair from the root. This disrupts the laser process and can prolong your treatment timeline.
If you're ever unsure, just ask — we're here to guide you every step of the way.
-
Why do I need multiple sessions?
The body is covered in thousands of hair follicles, and each one grows on its own cycle. Hair moves through three key phases:
Anagen – the active growth phase
Catagen – the transition phase
Telogen – the resting phase
For laser to work effectively, the hair must be in the anagen phase, when it’s still connected to the follicle. That’s the only time the laser can truly disrupt growth at the root.
On the scalp, the anagen phase can last years. But on the body — such as legs or underarms — it may last just 30 to 45 days. That’s why multiple sessions are needed, and consistency matters.
Each time we target hair in the right phase, we push the follicle into long-term dormancy — much longer-lasting than waxing or shaving could ever achieve. Stick to your treatment plan, and you’ll see the difference.
-
Is laser hair removal safe for black skin?
Yes — the Soprano Titanium is a highly advanced system and one of the safest options for treating Black and darker skin tones.
It combines three laser wavelengths — Alexandrite, Diode, and ND:YAG. For deeper skin tones, the ND:YAG wavelength is key. It targets the hair follicle while bypassing the melanin in the skin, making it both safe and effective.
Your settings are always carefully selected to suit your skin type, ensuring a treatment that’s not only results-driven, but also respectful of your skin’s unique needs.
-
What sort of results can I expect?
Laser hair removal offers a permanent reduction, not total removal — and that distinction matters.
A strong result is considered around 85% reduction in hair. There’s no such thing as 100% removal, because the body will always retain some ability to grow hair over time, especially in hormonally influenced areas.
Results are gradual. After each session, a portion of hairs in the active growth phase are targeted. These hairs will begin to shed in the weeks between your appointments.
You may not notice a dramatic difference at first — but what you'll likely see is that you're shaving less often, and regrowth is finer, softer, and slower.
✨ Tip: Keep a note of how often you shave — it’s easy to forget your progress when it happens quietly.Laser hair removal isn’t a quick fix — but with patience and consistency, it’s one of the most rewarding skincare investments you can make.
-
When will I start to notice results?
Everyone’s body is different. Some clients notice a change after just one session, while others start seeing results after three — and for some, it’s not until much later in the course that the difference becomes clear.
It all depends on your starting point: your hair type, growth cycle, and how your body responds.
A good result is typically defined as a 60–85% reduction in hair. It’s important to remember that no laser can remove 100% of hair permanently. A few stubborn hairs may remain, but they’re usually much finer, softer, and slower to grow than before.
Laser works gradually — and beautifully — when given the time and consistency it needs.
-
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal offers permanent hair reduction, not complete removal. After completing your course, you can expect the treated area to have significantly less hair, with any remaining growth appearing softer, finer, and much sparser.
To maintain your results long-term, we recommend a single top-up session once a year, starting around 12 months after your final treatment. It’s a simple way to keep things smooth, refined, and effortless for the years ahead.
-
Can I have laser hair removal during my period?
Yes — you can still have laser during your period, including bikini treatments. We simply recommend wearing a tampon or menstrual cup for hygiene and comfort.
It’s worth noting that the skin can feel a little more sensitive around this time, so just let your practitioner know. We can always adjust the settings to keep you as comfortable as possible.
-
Is laser hair removal better than electrolysis?
It depends on your needs.
Laser hair removal is ideal for treating larger areas quickly and comfortably, with up to 85% permanent hair reduction. It’s especially effective on dark hair and is virtually pain-free for most people — making it the preferred choice for areas like the legs, underarms, and bikini.
Electrolysis, on the other hand, is better suited to small or stubborn areas — such as the chin or upper lip — particularly if you’re targeting white, grey, or very fine hairs that laser may not fully treat. Electrolysis can be more time-consuming and less comfortable, but it does offer true permanent removal, one hair at a time.
Often, the best approach is to begin with a course of laser to quickly and significantly reduce overall hair growth, and only consider electrolysis later if a few fine or light hairs remain that you’d like to address.
For most people, laser alone delivers more than enough — but we’re always happy to talk through your options and tailor the right path for you.
